PILOT PROJECT ASSESSMENT PLAN
Each school will administer the DIBELS test developed at the University of Oregon. We would like the test administered three times each year -- at the beginning, near mid-year and at year's end. Last year DIBELS was administered to 450,000 children nationwide, so this provides us with a strong database with which to compare our Pilot Project assessment data.
The DIBELS test and instructions on its administration will be provided. The test takes less than 10 minutes per child to administer. Teachers will also fill out a mid-term and year-end curriculum evaluation, based on their own assessments and observations.
Frontline Phonics is already working to coordinate the assessments with University of Oregon staff. It is expected that a professor at U/O will be a formal member of our Research Advisory Committee, along with other professional educators, to oversee our research. A representative of each participating school district is also invited to join the Advisory Committee.
